The countries from South-East Europe play an important role the EU "20-20-20" targets. They are utilizing renewables and putting the energy efficiency into the heart of its transition towards low-carbon economy.

The 2016 edition of the EE & RE Conference presented the landscape of energy evolution in the Region and outline the next steps. A strong international presence of speakers and practice-oriented topics ensured great knowledge exchange.
 

  • The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Bulgaria Bozhidar Lukarski addressed welcoming message at the official opening.
  • Speakers from German Sustainable Building Council, International Geothermal Association  (Germany), Bulgarian Ministry of Economy, European Geothermal Energy Council (Belgium), European Academy of Bolzano (Italy), Bulgarian Green Building Council, everiSmart (Spain), Kingspan Insulated Panels (the UK), etc.
  • A highlight was a session in a partnership with Euroheat & Power (Belgium) - District Heating: Connecting Local and Renewable Energy Sources
  • The other discussed topics were: Geothermal Heat; Energy Performance of Buildings Directive; EU Energy Efficiency Directive; Energy Efficiency Increasing in City Districts, Green Buildings, etc.
